Director’s Message

Dear Students,
In health care services, it is necessary to provide qualified nursing and midwifery education to implement evidence-based care as a requirement of rapid change and globalization in parallel with developments in science and technology. In this context, as the Faculty of Health Sciences, we, as the Faculty of Health Sciences, have adopted the principle of training nurses and midwives who aim to protect and improve the health of the individual, family and society, are sensitive to innovations and changes, serve at the level of professional standards, develop their professional career by taking role and responsibility in education, management and research, and adopt lifelong learning.

Our faculty started its academic activities in 1997 as the School of Health with undergraduate education. Since the Spring Semester of the 2012-2013 Academic Year, Master's and Doctorate programs with thesis have been carried out in the Department of Nursing. As of the fall semester of the 2016-2017 academic year, a non-thesis master's program has started in the Department of Nursing. The School of Health has been continuing its undergraduate education as the Faculty of Health Sciences since April 8, 2016.

I sincerely wish you to be a competent employee in the profession of Nursing and Midwifery, which is an important member of the team of health care professionals. I also congratulate you for earning the right to study at a qualified, quality university and faculty. Our goal is to raise our profession to the best levels in line with the principles mentioned above, to perform this honorable profession with love, to exhibit the right approach to critical issues, to think critically, and to be good nurses and midwives who have adopted the philosophy of lifelong learning.

We have two more departments opened within our Faculty of Health Sciences, whose academic and physical infrastructure works are ongoing, and which we have not yet been able to start education by actively enrolling students. Our Audiology and Nutrition and Dietetics departments were opened in November 2016 and January 2019, respectively. The Department of Audiology is committed to addressing the problems related to hearing and balance in the most accurate way, undertaking the application and follow-up of hearing aids suitable for infant / child / adult individuals in parallel with the developing technology within the scope of rehabilitation, developing professional reasoning and problem solving skills, adopting lifelong learning as a principle, productive and ethical principles. The Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, on the other hand, aims to train qualified dietitians who are open to continuous development in the fields of education, service and research, who are productive, have universal thoughts and values, and who are open to continuous development in the fields of education, service and research in order to provide individuals, families and society with adequate and balanced nutrition throughout life, to protect, improve and develop their health and to improve their quality of life.
